Premier Doug Ford must step up to protect our farmers

Hardworking farmers in Wilmot Township have been blindsided with demands to sell their land for undisclosed development, or face expropriation.

The demands, which can be traced back to a directive from Premier Ford to prepare 'shovel-ready sites' for development, have come without warning, lacking any consultation with those it affects most, and devoid of the transparency that is our due.

Such actions starkly contrast with Premier Ford’s public declarations of being "for the people," raising serious questions about his leadership and priorities.

When Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles brought these concerns directly to the Ford Government in April, seeking clarity and accountability, the Premier was evasive.

This situation isn’t just about the land. It's about the homes, livelihoods, and the community's future. The way this situation has unfolded in Wilmot Township is a warning: what’s happening here could happen to any community across Ontario.
