If passed, the bill will legislate an four hours of hands-on care per resident per day in long-term care.
Decades of Conservative and Liberal governments cuts to long-term care have led to a crisis. The Canadian Armed Forces Report unveiled the devastation happening in long-term care homes, with these issues starting long before COVID-19. And the independent commission's report has called for a minimum 4 hours of care. It has also noted the government's slow response to the first wave of the pandemic, and urges these changes to happen immediately.
The second wave is already here. Now is the time to make a minimum standard of care a reality in Ontario.
