Aisha Jahangir chosen to be the NDP candidate in Etobicoke North

TORONTO — New Democrats in Etobicoke North have chosen Aisha Jahangir to be their NDP candidate in the 2022 election.

“Over the past few years, I have seen first-hand the impact of severe cuts to health care and lack of access to mental health services for many in need. I want to work alongside Andrea Horwath to fix what has been broken by Doug Ford and years of successive Liberal governments,” said Jahangir.

Jahangir is a mental health nurse with over twenty years of experience. She knows the dire situation faced by those who cannot access services in a timely way and who live without housing security. She also advocates for affordable housing and the rights of tenants.

“The last few years have been especially hard for people in this community. The pandemic exposed the gaps in our economy and in access to essential public services. We need a government that can address these problems and restore high-quality health care and expand mental health services. Andrea Horwath and the NDP are the team that can beat Doug Ford and deliver what matters most to the people of Ontario. I am excited to be joining this hardworking team,” she concluded.
