Ontario's cities and towns deserve a government that makes their lives easier, invests in their communities and takes care of the basics.
That's why Marit Stiles and the Ontario NDP introduced a New Deal for Municipalities: Building Strong and Caring Communities to have the province take back responsibility for housing, transit, highways and infrastructure.
Ford's Conservatives voted no. But we're not stopping.

Former Mayor of Toronto, David Miller, will be joining the Ontario NDP to deliver on the basics and invests in communities:
Housing Invest in affordable housing, shelters, and homelessness prevention, with a focus on local partnerships with municipalities. The NDP's Homes Ontario plan will boost public, non-profit, and co-op housing development.
Healthcare Restore provincial cost-sharing for ambulance services (90/10) and local public health units (75/25).
Education Review funding for rural Ontario and ensure all students have access to necessary supports, including mental health services and educational resources.
Transit Restore 50% provincial funding for municipal transit to improve reliability, affordability, and accessibility.
Infrastructure Allocate funding based on need, not politics, and establish fair, predictable funding formulas for municipalities. Take back responsibility for controlled-access highways and “Connecting Link” roads.
