End Police Carding

The police practice of carding - detaining people and recording their personal information based on their race – is harmful to Black and racialized Ontarians and continues to erode public trust.

Add your name if you agree: It’s time to end the racist practice of carding once and for all.

The previous government claimed they would end carding, but it persists thanks to loopholes in legislation.

Instead of taking action to end carding, Doug Ford’s Conservatives are taking things from bad to worse. They've rolled back police oversight rules. And their minister in charge of the Anti-Racism Directorate has infamously answered questions about the need to abolish carding by stereotyping and insulting the predominantly-Black Jane and Finch neighbourhood in Toronto.

Our justice system should make sure every Ontarian can live in safety and dignity. And our ministers should have the credibility to fight systemic racism, not perpetuate it.
