A by-election is coming up in Kitchener Centre where a committed and talented Ontario NDP candidate, Debbie Chapman, is ready to hit the ground running to push back against the housing and affordability issues hurting the community. Debbie is hoping to continue the strong NDP representation for this riding, continuing the legacy of former MPP Laura Mae Lindo.
Meet Debbie
First elected in 2018, she is the City Councillor for Ward 9, with a proven track record of securing progressive wins for her community.
A committed community builder, Debbie will stand up against Doug Ford’s austerity threats and cuts. Her deep ties to Kitchener Centre mean she knows the issues people are facing, particularly how Ford’s friends-and-insiders agenda leaves everyday Ontarians behind.
This by-election will come on the heels of two strong by-election campaigns in Scarborough-Guildwood and Kanata-Carleton, where voters rejected Ford’s reckless scheme.
Thadsha Navaneethan, Ontario NDP candidate in Scarborough—Guildwood, ran an inspiring campaign that increased the NDP’s vote share by 10 points compared to the 2022 general election held just over a year ago. Thadsha’s ground game managed to make inroads in a riding that has been a Liberal stronghold even through two historic general election defeats, including their loss of party status in the Legislature.
Similarly, in Kanata—Carleton, Ontario NDP candidate Melissa Coenraad increased the party’s vote share by five points to make the riding a tight three-way race, proving that the tide of NDP supporters building and rising is here to stay.
We can’t wait for Debbie and the entire Ontario NDP to ride this momentum to victory in Kitchener Centre. Support Debbie Chapman’s campaign: https://debbiechapman.ontariondp.ca/
