CAMPAIGN INTERNAL COMPLIANCE

Job Summary

We’re looking for progressively minded, passionate, and self-driven individuals to become the next generation of organizers to build our local campaign teams and help us work towards an Ontario that includes everyone.

The Ontario New Democratic Party is seeking an organized, meticulous and results-oriented individual to fill the full-time temporary position of Campaign Internal Compliance Assistant as part of the Ontario NDP Organization team.

Under the supervision of the Provincial Director and in coordination with the Director of Outreach, Party Financial Controller, Party Auditor, and relevant staff, the Campaign Internal Compliance Assistant would be responsible for ensuring both the central Party as well as Riding Associations and campaigns remain in compliance with both the Ontario Elections Act and Election Finances Act. The Assistant will work with associations proactively to ensure timely submission of required documentation and forms, lead the rapid resolution of outstanding compliance issues, and act as a support for associations to allow for smooth financial reporting as required by the Election Finance Act.

DUTIES

  • Work with the organization team to implement and report back on a pre-election work plan to ensure that assigned ridings are election ready by assigned deadline.
  • Maintain regular contact with local riding association executives.
  • Assist in the development of materials and training for assigned ridings.
  • Track the status of all 124 Ontario Riding Associations to ensure the timely submission of all required documentation, including Association Registration forms (A-1s) and financial returns such as the Annual Association Return (AR-1) and others when required.
  • Project manage all Ontario Riding Association audit submissions, and completion by the Party Auditors.
  • Work closely with the Party Auditors as well as the ONDP Financial Controller and local associations to ensure accuracy of all reports submitted, both locally and centrally, as part of said returns.
  • Work closely with the Compliance Division of Elections Ontario, the Party Auditors, the ONDP Financial Controller, and local Riding CFOs (Chief Financial Officers) to resolve any and all compliance issues related to financial returns rapidly and accurately.
  • Outreach assignments as directed by the Provincial Director - ensuring that all Associations have a current CFO and that those CFOs have the information and knowledge required to fulfill the responsibilities of their position.
  • Coordination with other ONDP staff to develop strategic plans, best practices and tools to assist associations with reporting requirements.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Solid knowledge of accounting best practices.
  • Experience encouraging, motivating, and working well with volunteers.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines, that involves working with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in campaign organizing and outreach with the Labour movement, community organizations, the NDP, etc.
  • Proven project management skills
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Elections Act and Election Finances Act.
  • Ability to prepare reports, produce accurate work and maintain detailed and organized records.
  • Proven ability to work energetically without supervision and to produce accurate and effective work according to tight deadlines.

SKILLS

  • Demonstrated project management expertise
  • Knowledge of the policies, practices and structures of the ONDP.
  • Excellent political judgement, demonstrated ability to provide political analysis and strategic advice.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to multi-task, highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Demonstrated skills documenting program progress and preparing detailed reports.
  • A willingness to travel as required, often on short notice, and a valid driver’s license and car.
  • Experience with training in an adult education setting an asset.
  • Working knowledge of French or fluency in another language an asset.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND VACCINATION REQUIREMENT

This position is compensated as per Appendix IV of the ONDP Collective Agreement. Starting salary is $46,400.00 per annum. The ONDP has an office at 2069 Lakeshore Blvd West.
