Cornwall — New Democrats in Stormont Dundas South Glengarry have chosen elementary teacher Wendy Stephen to be their NDP candidate in the 2022 election.
“I’m excited to be running to represent the people of this riding and to join Andrea Horwath and the committed team of New Democrats who are ready to fix what the Ford Conservatives and years of Liberal governments have broken,” said Stephen.
Stephen is an elementary teacher with a young family. She grew up in Eastern Ontario and knows well the struggles people are facing throughout the region with the high cost of everyday living and our broken essential services like health care and education. Over the past number of years, she has been active in fighting the cuts in public education.
“What teachers, nurses and all workers in Ontario are being asked to do right now is impossible. If nothing else, the pandemic has highlighted the problems with the services people rely on most. I have lived through successive cuts to education, and I am keen to work with this community to fix what is broken make life more affordable for everyone. I look forward to the next four weeks of campaigning and ultimately to represent the real interests of the people of this riding at Queen’s Park,” she said.
