Tom Rakocevic chosen to be the NDP candidate in Humber River-Black Creek

TORONTO — New Democrats in Humber River-Black Creek have selected incumbent MPP Tom Rakocevic to be their NDP candidate in the 2022 provincial election. Rakocevic holds degrees in Education and Science and spent years in community service working as the Executive Assistant to local City Councillor Anthony Perruzza, before becoming MPP in 2018. Rakocevic currently serves as the Official Opposition critic for Transit, and is Vice-Chair of the Emergency Management Oversight Committee.

Biography

• As a long-time community advocate, Rakocevic has fought for better and more equitable education, safer neighbourhoods, tenant and consumer rights, fair auto insurance, and important local neighbourhood investments like the proposed community hub at Jane and Finch
• During the pandemic, Rakocevic has helped deliver PPE locally and secure ongoing local pop-up testing and targeted funding to help northwest Toronto neighbourhoods hit hard by COVID-19
• Rakocevic has also been a strong voice in Ontario’s legislature for paid sick days, safer public transit, and fixing long term care
• Rakocevic has lived in Humber River-Black Creek his entire life. He resides there with his mother, wife, and young son, and he is eagerly expecting the birth of his second child this summer.
