Mara-Elena Nagy chosen to be the NDP candidate in Don Valley East

DON VALLEY EAST — New Democrats in Don Valley East have selected teacher and activist Mara-Elena Nagy to be their NDP candidate in the 2022 provincial election.

Quotes

Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath

“Mara-Elena Nagy’s commitment to making life better for regular Ontarians is just what people in Don Valley East need after four years of the Ford Conservatives’ deep cuts and bad decisions. Ford has let down regular families by driving the housing crisis to the brink, and letting home care, hospitals and long-term care become dangerously understaffed. During the pandemic, he gave big box stores an advantage over our local businesses, and put our kids’ schools so low on the priority list they kids were sent back to online learning again and again. I’m excited for Mara-Elena Nagy to join our team and finally fix what’s broken — health care, education, and the cost of housing.”

Mara-Elena Nagy, NDP candidate for Don Valley East

“I care deeply about making life better for people in Don Valley East, whether that’s making sure everyone has access to a dignified living wage, an affordable place to live, or a great education for their kids. I can’t wait to join Andrea Horwath in rebuilding our health care, education and child care systems, fixing our housing crisis and creating better conditions for working people. As a teacher, a food service worker and a woman living with a disability, I know firsthand what it feels like to be left behind by the Ford government. I am committed to ensuring everyone in Don Valley East has a voice at Queen’s Park and the opportunity to build a great life.”
