Incumbent Jamie West nominated to be the NDP candidate in Sudbury

SUDBURY — New Democrats in Sudbury have nominated Jamie West, the incumbent MPP, to be their candidate for the next provincial election. West currently serves as the critic for Labour, Training and Skills Development.

“I am honoured by this nomination, and by the trust that New Democrats here in Sudbury have placed in me once again,” said West. “I grew up here [Sudbury], raised my family here, and I know firsthand the challenges our community faces. Sudbury is a community that cares. We stand up to support and protect our most vulnerable people, we unite around common causes, and we look out for our neighbours."

“I will always be proud to amplify and echo your voices at Queen’s Park and to fight for the things that matter most, whether that’s a family doctor for everyone, affordable housing, more supports for mental health and addiction, safer classrooms, or more childcare spaces. The people of Sudbury deserve a government that cares about them and puts them first. As a blue-collar worker, a northerner, and a New Democrat, I will never shy away from the fight to give people the life they deserve, because it’s time for better.”

“Jamie is a relentless fighter for workers across the province,” said Marit Stiles, Ontario NDP leader. “Jamie’s strong roots in the labour movement and commitment to making sure that the people of Sudbury get their fair share has made him a force to be reckoned with at Queen’s Park. Whether it’s fighting for local health care in Sudbury, or taking on Ford for unfair labour practices - Jamie never shies away from a challenge if it means a better, brighter future for our province. I am proud to have Jamie carry the NDP banner in Sudbury!”
