Glover: Ford’s Conservatives are running the show at Ontario Place

QUEEN’S PARK – Official Opposition NDP MPP Chris Glover (Spadina—Fort York) has released the following statement in response to the latest announcement on Ontario Place:

“The fate of Ontario Place has always been up to the province, and Ford’s Conservatives are handing Ontarians a terrible deal with an elite luxury spa and a mega parking structure subsidized to the tune of half a billion dollars.

"Ford’s Conservatives have made it abundantly clear; they were always going to use their majority to push through their nonsensical spa-obsessed plan for Ontario Place. This just makes it clear that Ford has been running the show at Ontario Place and must answer why Therme is being exempted from planning guardrails, such as an environmental assessment on a publicly run project.

"Ontarians deserve answers on why the Premier and his government won’t give up on this bad plan and the Ontario NDP will keep fighting for transparency. The incoming Auditor General’s report and Ontario Place for All’s request for injunction are our best hope for these answers.”
