QUEEN’S PARK — Official Opposition NDP Leader Marit Stiles is challenging Doug Ford to justify the enormous tax hikes people in Brampton and Caledon may be facing because of the Ford-Crombie deal to dissolve Peel Region.
Stiles issued this statement:
“Thanks to the Ford-Crombie deal, people in Brampton are facing a property tax increase of up to 34 per cent and in Caledon, 256 per cent, in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis. This is while the Ford Conservatives are hellbent on spending $650 million of public money on their luxury spa in downtown Toronto.
The Ford Conservatives’ plan to dissolve Peel will cost the City of Brampton an estimated $1.3 billion dollars.
Residents of Brampton and Caledon and across Ontario are frustrated by rising costs. The NDP is the only party proposing real solutions to give people relief from the out-of-control cost of living.”
