Doly Begum chosen to be the NDP candidate in Scarborough Southwest

SCARBOROUGH – New Democrats in Scarborough Southwest have chosen Doly Begum to be their NDP candidate in the 2022 provincial election.

Quotes:

Leader of the Official Opposition NDP, Andrea Horwath

“Doly is a strong, committed and caring MPP, and she’s exactly the person Scarborough needs as we work to finally give the community its fair share. As the cost of living has shot through the roof and Doug Ford continues to put his buddies ahead of regular families, people in Scarborough are getting left behind without enough hospital space, a home care and long-term care system in its knees, and unaffordable housing. As critic for Citizenship, Foreign Credentials and Immigration, she has worked tirelessly to remove barriers for internationally trained professionals to work in their field in Ontario. She is committed to shoring up Scarborough’s local hospitals, shortening wait times, and making it possible for more Scarborough families to afford a great place to live. She’s ready, and we’re lucky to have her on our team.”

Doly Begum, NDP Candidate for Scarborough Southwest

“For far too long, the hardworking community of Scarborough has been left behind. Liberal and Conservative governments have left our hospital system badly underfunded and understaffed, with people forced to wait months or years to get an important surgery. Young folks can’t afford to stay because of the cost of homes. And I’m proud to be a member of Andrea Horwath’s New Democrats, because I know that, together, we can start to fix it. I’m excited to keep fighting for the people of Scarborough to be seen and heard. I’m committed to fixing what’s broken and helping people achieve what matters most.”
