Ontario NDP MPP Catherine McKenney is fighting to protect renters from dangerous heat.

Right now, Ontario has rules to protect tenants from freezing apartments, but no province-wide maximum temperature for rental homes. During extreme heat, many renters are left trapped in dangerously hot units with no reliable way to cool down.

Catherine McKenney’s Bill 128 would make cooling a vital service and require rental homes to stay at or below 26°C from June 1 to September 30.
